5 Key Questions to Ask Yourself at Mid-Year

Holy moly, Friend! Can you believe it is time for a mid-year review? It’s crazy. I think I mentioned to you last week during our discussion on third-quarter planning how quickly time has flown by, and it is all good. I’m not exactly sure when you’ll read this, for me in a few days, it will be the halfway point of the year. As you cross the midpoint of the year, this is the perfect time to pause and reflect on the year thus far. What are the things you've accomplished, and what are the things you're hoping you can achieve for the rest of this year? Here are five key questions to ask yourself at Mid-Year to gauge if you are on track to reach your goals. Be sure to get your hands on the free Mid-Year Review download!

Make time for a mid-year review.

Now, this is important; please schedule time for a mid-year review. If you are not honoring your desire to go after your goals, who will?
Well, of course, besides a private coach, they always hold space for belief in your goal achievement. Just sayin’ I know my coach has the belief in me as I’m tackling my mind drama. You know, when you level up, a whole other door of limiting beliefs seems to open up for you.
A mid-year review will not magically happen if you’re not mindfully setting aside time. Why not pull out your calendar right now and block off a whole day for time to reflect and plan for the months ahead. That’s why the best way to do this is by scheduling time in your calendar.
It says this is important when you create space by blocking time on your calendar for a mid-year review.

Why a mid-review is important to you

I know what you’re thinking; why is it important to do a midyear review? Because it's essential that you know where you're going and to reflect on where you’ve been.
Mid-year is a great time to pause, look back and celebrate all the accomplishments that you've gotten done so far this year.

As well as to take a look forward for the rest of the year of the things that you'd like to still achieve.

Yay! Let's celebrate your wins!

A mid-year review is a perfect time to celebrate! Be Your Own Best Cheerleader! Toot your own horn, Friend! Read this post for more on Be Your Own Cheerleader!

Do you track all your wins?

Just saying, if you're not keeping track of your wins, you should be! Not everyone is disciplined to go after their goals. When you honor your desire for success, it's important to celebrate!

You can keep track in a success jar or write it down in a journal. I have mine in Notion in my daily journaling so that I can really pick one thing every day that I'm celebrating and grateful for.

If you need a bit of guidance on tracking your success, I’ve got you. Here is a previous post on Success Journaling to keep track of your success:

Mid-Year Review Question One

Tell me in the comment below, what are the big and small wins you are celebrating? Now, this is important; each success deserves a little happy dance; spend a little time thanking yourself for accomplishing those!

The first question to ask yourself mid-year is:

What am I celebrating in my life and as an entrepreneur?

Mid-Year Review Reflection

Now that you've cleaned up all the confetti, let’s reflect. Hmm, I’m curious. Is this you? Do you run into trouble reflecting on your life and small business? Are you an entrepreneur who keeps going and doesn't take time to step back and reflect?

Not reflecting is where entrepreneurs run into trouble; they keep going and going without stepping back to reflect. Now is the time to reflect on your small business and the personal goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year.

How do those goals feel at mid-year?

Are you still aligned with your goals and where you’d like to go as an online entrepreneur?

As your online business grows and transforms, the goals that you’ve set at the beginning of the year may no longer feel in alignment. That’s okay. Here’s the big secret: you must be willing to let go of what is no longer aligned with your business and personal goals.

It’s important to reflect and do a mid-year reset to build up the steam for the remaining year in your online business.

Mid-Year Review Question Two

What big goals did you set at the beginning of the year? Are they still there? Are you still working at 'em?

Taking time to reflect is a critical piece to goal setting and goal accomplishment. You must spend time evaluating what you have done and if you’re on track to achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself at the beginning of 2022 or whatever year you’re reading this. (;

The second question to ask yourself at mid-year is:

Am I still on course to achieve the goals I set for myself in my life and as an entrepreneur? Why or why not?

Mid-Year Review Question Three

Numbers tell a story about what is working and not working in your online business.

The third question is more of a set of questions to ask yourself mid-year and will give you a realistic look at the first six months of your small business.

Here are questions to ask yourself mid-year as an audit of your numbers in your online small business.

Finances

  • What do your finances look like for the first six months?
    • Gross Revenue
    • Costs
  • How much have you paid yourself?
  • Are you on track to hit your yearly revenue goals?
  • How can you shift your offering to hit your financial goals if not?
  • How is your spending?
    • Are you on a budget?
    • Do you have any areas where you’re overspending?
  • What is your profit for the year?

Marketing

What are your marketing efforts saying to you? Begin with your website; where is your traffic coming from? Page visits? What are the blog topics or keywords that generate the most traffic?

Why do you want to know this? These would be great topics for your content calendar!

Next, check your email marketing, has your email list grown? How were the open rates? Click through rate with your call to action? Are you getting engagement from your email list?

Social Media

Finally, review your social media numbers. What is the engagement rate? Do you know what content had the best engagement? How about what content has the worst engagement? Use this information for your content calendar.

Mid-Year Review Question Four

What is your vision? You need to start with the end in mind. What is the vision for your life as an online entrepreneur? Do you know how you want your life to look three years from now?

The fourth question during your mid-year review for your online business:

Where am I going, and why?
Where do I want to be 90 days from now?
Where do I want to be by the end of this year?

Mid-Year Review Question Five

Another key piece of your mid-year review is getting honest with your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. What thoughts keep you from achieving your vision for your life and as an online entrepreneur?

The fifth question to ask yourself at mid-year is:

Where are my thoughts getting in the way of my vision for my future?

Not sure? No problem, ask it this way instead.

If I did know where my thoughts were getting in the way of my vision for the future, what would they be?

Our thoughts and feelings create our actions and results. It’s important to be mindful of what your thoughts are regarding the success of your online business.

Mid-Year Goals

To conclude your mid-review of your online business, set new goals or create a new plan on how to achieve the goals you’ve already set! If you don’t know where you’re going, how will you know when you get there? Mid-year goal setting allows you to plan for the rest of the year!

Waiting to Start? Procrastination

Waiting to Start? Procrastination

Do you have a goal or dream you’ve been waiting to start? When you have more time, you’ve finished your certification, or are you procrastinating? Procrastination is your obstacle to overcome on the way to achieving your goals.

Set to Repeat

Let me guess, you wake up every day with your dream in your heart, thinking that maybe today is the day that you’ll have time to get started. Only to end your day with yet again another day of waiting to start on that goal.

Living each day as if you’re on repeat. Life is happening right now; it’s not three months from now when you’ll have that certification or more time.

Here is the hard truth: you will never have more time. Now, this is important; you’ll still have the same 24 hours in the day that you have now.

When I woke up to this truth, I began to shift. I stopped letting procrastination be my biggest obstacle. After that, I went from hoping something would happen to creating plans and believing it was happening.

You need to do the scary thing to move forward.

The bigger the dream goal, the more the brain will kick in to keep us safe. This is normal. Put it aside and start making your dreams a priority. Choose your goal.

To put it another way, no more choosing the obstacles of procrastination. In the end, the choice is always yours.

By the way, If you need help getting out of the repeat cycle of procrastination, I got you. This is what I do with my private coaching clients. Here is the link to my private coaching application.

Get Crystal Clear

I’m sure you’ve heard it before when you take time to create a plan for what you want to accomplish, you no longer have to try and figure out what to do. Creating plans allow you to make decisions ahead of time.

When we are not clear, it will put us in the procrastination cycle. As a result, our mind begins to feel overwhelmed and out of control with all the decisions. Then it is easier not to do anything at all.

It can be messy when it’s all stuck in your head. All the to-do items floating around that you’d like to get done.

Take time to get it out of your head. Sit down, relax and do a mind sweep of the actions to be done to bring your dreams to life.

Waiting to Start? Procrastination Is Your Obstacle

Create the Map

Then with all your action items, begin to create a road map of all the small steps that you need to do to make it happen.

The trick is to take your list of action items and start to put them in order. Some prefer to reverse engineer the goal, beginning with the end in mind and working backward.

By working backward, you will see a clear vision of all the actions to be done.

Here’s the big secret: block time on your calendar to get the work done. By doing this, you’re creating space in your day to overcome the procrastination obstacle.

Time on your calendar means you know precisely what to do and when. Suddenly, your days will go from waiting to start to doable and done.

Do you have a big goal that you’ve been waiting for more time to start? I invite you back next week as I kick off my series on creating routines to simplify your life to stop being so busy.

When we create routines it helps us to simplify our lives to eliminate everyday decisions and give you more time and brain space to go after your dreams.

Private Coaching

Why do I believe in the power of private coaching?

Because it is truly life-changing. When your coach asks you that mind-blowing question that suddenly allows you to see what you've been missing all along that was literally right in front of your face.

You just need someone with a different perspective to help you see it.

Are you ready to experience life from a different perspective?

Becoming A Better You

Becoming A Better You

It’s that time of year again when you hear the buzz New Year, New You. In other words, setting resolutions and goals for the new improved vision you have of becoming a better you.

What if

Let me ask, are you in a repeat cycle of starting and stopping? If this is you, you’re not alone. Most give up on themselves after only a few days.

What if this year was the year that you stop stopping? What if this year you stuck to the commitment of becoming a Better You?

What soundtrack do you have?

What does it take to stay the course of becoming a better you?

In order to become a better you, you need to figure out what you do not love about the current you.

What soundtrack do you have playing in your head that is telling you that the current you is not enough?

I know that soundtrack oh so well. You’re not thin enough. You’re not smart enough, You’re not focused enough. Blah, blah, blah.

You’ll probably laugh at me when I say this, because that is what I did I gave out a big old chuckle when that light bulb went off in my head. Those are just thoughts. They really aren't true. Those thoughts could not be proven in a court of law. No matter how much you want to believe they could be.

Becoming a Better You is Scary, AmIright?

It’s all the crap that you have going on between your ears that allows you to throw in the towel and give up.

It’s our limiting thoughts that like to keep us coming back to the same cozy and comfortable place that we have always been. Because that’s all we have known and our minds want to keep us in the place of knowing instead of venturing out into the unknown. Because that is super scary. Right?

Becoming A Better You

Two Goals

Last year. I set two simple goals, just two simple goals so I thought. To complete my Yes Supply Coaching Certification and to upload a new YouTube video every single week. I had the mantra Business is easy when I take messy imperfect action. Do you know what? I’m keeping this mantra in 2022 because it pushed me to do the uncomfortable.

You guessed it, I did both of these.

Did it come with struggles? Oh, you bet it did!

So many times I had to talk myself into recording a video for my YouTube channel. In the beginning, I had my son edit all of them because I knew if I did it I would never, ever publish them.

In the beginning, my enough thoughts were rampant.

But, I kept my head down and stayed true to my word and my commitment to myself. I took action even when I really, really, really, really, really didn’t want to. Trust me there were many times when I didn’t really want to record a YouTube video.

Along the way, I celebrated my progress. I gave myself grace when my limiting thoughts came up.

And I keep going anyway.

I am capable of becoming a better me.

You see, I’m the only one that holds the ability to become a better me.

As much as I’d like to push this off on someone else. It’s me. I’m the only one that can become a better me.

I have to hold the belief that I am capable of becoming a better me.

My Other Goal

You may be wondering about my other goal for last year to finish my Yes Supply Coaching Certification. I did that one too. But getting the certification was the easy part.

Do you want to know the hard part? Self-coaching myself through all the limiting beliefs and garbage thoughts I had swirling around in my head.

I’ve known deep down inside since I started out as a virtual assistant I had a strong desire and inner calling to be a life coach. The problem is I pushed that desire down and covered it up.

Those Dang Limiting Beliefs

I allowed my limiting beliefs to win for years! FOR YEARS!

I allowed them to make me believe that I could not be a life coach. I was so worried about what would people say or what would they think. Oh, look at Michele calling herself a life coach, like the world, needs another life coach. Blah, blah, blah.

I don’t know do you find that same repeat conversion going on in your head?

I know now why. I had to first be my own best coach. I know now why I had to work through my own limiting beliefs. I know now why I had to be my own best client.

The work that I did was teaching me how to coach myself on anything that my creative mind came up with. I finally understand that the good LORD gave me everything I needed to be an amazing life and success coach.

I Found The Proof

If that wasn’t enough, in a search for something else I came across the emails from my friends and clients on My Superpowers.

If anyone has taken Marie Forleo’s B-School you know exactly what I’m talking about. When you send an email to a small number of people that you respect and trust and ask what they believe are your three best, strongest qualities.

These are were the most common qualities that came back to me: great listener, compassionate, giving, helpful, trustworthy.

I don’t know about you, but those are qualities that I look for when I’m hiring my next life and success coach.

My Goal For This Year Is Scary Too

Here it goes, this one is scary for me to share and put other there. This year, the goal on my Magic Chalkboard is to impact 26 lives as a life and success coach through my six-month private coaching.

This goal matters because of the impact it will create. Making an impact on someONE to help them believe they are capable of doing hard things. I want to help 26 people discover they are capable of achieving their dreams. You’re capable of doing the hard thing, they are capable of doing so much more than you give yourself credit for.

I know, if I could coach myself through all the limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and garbage that swirls around in my head, then I know, I KNOW, I can coach anyone else through their garbage and limiting beliefs.

If this is you with a head full of limiting beliefs and garage I invite you to apply to work with me. Apply now!
