Want to Succeed With Your Resolutions? Start Doing This.

Is this the year? Is this the year that you really want to succeed with your resolutions? But, then the very next thought is but how? I’ve not done it before, I always give up.

We stop trying after 7 days

If you’ve not been successful in the past, well you’re not alone. I hear a stat that it takes only seven days for people to give up on their New Years Resolutions. Seven days! Why is that? For me personally, before I began all my self-work it was because I have an all or none thinking.
This year I’m going to do my seventh Whole 30. Mostly, because during the holidays my sugars monster has been strong.

Do I need to? Not 100% because I’m already getting myself back on track by keeping a food log inside of Notion. If I have to write it down it makes me really think about what I’m putting in my mouth.

But, more importantly, I gave myself grace during the holiday season to eat the foods that have become our family traditions. Like warm Monkey Bread out of the oven at my Mom’s house on Christmas morning. I’ve not found anyone that makes Monkey Bread like my Mom. (Thanks Mom! I love you.)

I will do another one because I like the ease of not having to make any decisions. A whole 30 tells you exactly what you can and cannot have on the reset. Simple as that.

For some crazy reason, it’s easier for me to eat with all kinds of rules versus having to make the decisions for myself.

It can be so easy to slip when we have to make the decisions for yourselves.

Would resolutions last longer if we set standards and guidelines to help with decision fatigue?

Set a new standard for your life

Want to succeed with your resolutions?

Start by making it a new standard for your life.
But, what really is a new standard? Well, standard means It’s just normal for you. What will your new standard be? Is it becoming a person that gets up earlier? Maybe you want to be a person with a healthier lifestyle.

What can you do to make that standard happen? What guidelines can you make to set yourself up for success? What guidelines will you follow to be successful?

Making lasting change takes commitment and maybe post-it notes around the house to remind you of the commitment, your new standard. AND more importantly on those post-it notes around your home why in December was this resolution important to you!

Future Self

If you’ve been around me for any length of time, you’ll hear me talk about my future self a lot. This has become my gage, it wasn’t always in the past, but when I began to look at decision making through the lens of my future self it gives me a different perspective.

This is my personal experience, I’m not a fake it until you make it kind of person. I know that about myself now. This is where the future self came into play, when I make decisions in my business and life as much as possible I look at them from would my future self thank me for this or will she be disappointed. Will she think that it was necessary to move towards my commitment or did it set me back?

Small Shifts to big results

Have you read the book Atomic Habits? The book is full of amazing points from James Clear. To make the change you need to do it with a small 1% change every day.

We try and change who we are overnight. We need to look at what is the new standard we set for ourselves. If you want to get more sleep. Go to bed 5 minutes earlier. If you want to start a business, get clear on how you help?

Here is a link to a great book summary if you’ve not read the book.

Ask yourself, “What is one thing specifically I can do today that will move me in the right direction?”

This one thing needs to feel like it can be done. Do that until it’s routine, you know your new normal, and change something else. Big commitment and change are made one little step at a time.

Here is a quick video to go along with this post.

Do we really need a new year to set new standards for yourselves?

I don’t think so. I think every day is a good day to set a new standard for yourself.

Every day is a good day to believe that you can. If we do not have a belief in ourselves who does? We have to want to make the shift more than anything. We have to want it for ourselves or it will not stick. We have to know why we want to change, why it is important to us. If we are doing it for someone else it won’t work. We have to want it more. We have to see ourselves changing.

Do it for you.

Little Side Note

Want to succeed with your resolutions? Create a win jar. Every single time you stick to your commitment give yourself a win. Write down on scrap paper, a colored paper whatever paper brings a smile to your face – your win, and collect them. When you fall off track, read your wins, read your why. Know you can do it for you.

✁ Just a Snippet

Here is just a snippet of the important points, you know for the skimmer in you. Takes one to know one. 🤪

  • Give yourself grace on the hard days.
  • A new standard will become your new normal.
  • Look through the lens of your future self when making decisions.
  • One small change daily will gain you more confidence in your new standard
  • What is one thing, not twenty that will help keep you on the success train?
  • Create a win jar and celebrate every single success when you feel like giving up.
  • Every day is a good day to start a new standard for yourself

Work Smarter Not Harder with Canned Responses

Work Smarter Not Harder with Canned Responses

Work Smarter Not Harder by creating canned responses in Gmail to efficiently manage your inbox.

Work Smarter not harder by creating canned responses in Gmail to effectively manage your inbox and to easily delegate to a virtual executive assistant.

You know those questions that you receive repeatedly from prospects, clients and general inquires. It’s time to start working smarter my Friend by using a response you’ve already drafted and saving that in your canned responses in Gmail.

To get you started

Ideas on responses that you can write once and use again and again.

  • A list of your favorite books
  • A list of your favorite podcasts
  • A waiting list response for your group or program
  • A no to opportunities that you do not have time for or are not in alignment with your business
  • Your best advice
  • Affiliate or Joint Venture Information

Here is another pro-tip, create forms in Google Forms or Typeform for your waitlist, joint ventures, guest posting, podcast interviews. Anything that you’d want to gather information create the Google Form so that information can be added directly into a Google Sheet. By asking the same questions you’ll be able to compare data.

Canned Responses in Gmail

Create in a Google Document First

Copy and paste emails you’ve already written into a Canned Responses Google Document. Once you have your responses they can be saved inside of Google. The reason I suggest that you create it in a google document is that you can easily see what you’ve already done. It’s easy to share if you’d like to send them to a team member.

Walk Through

Watch the video below as I walk you through how to set up your very own canned responses in Gmail.

Taking Imperfect Action

Embedded in this blog post is a YouTube video that I recorded a while ago on taking imperfect action.

But, guess what I didn’t follow through with publishing it, until today. Today I decided to take the imperfect action to publish the video and to write the dang post.

Any Excuse Will Do

Really any excuse will do, and I had a number of them. But honestly, as I wash my excuses clean. I was scared.
The mean girl came out for me, and Friends she came out strong. She was giving me the whole song and dance about not being good enough, and who really wants to hear what you have to say. And then I remember…

It’s not about me.

It’s really not all about me. When I get myself stuck in that mindset it limits my ability to create an impact. That’s what is on my heart, create an impact on someone. The goal is not to create an impact on everybody it is to create an impact on someONE. The key is one, if I can create an impact on one person with my imperfect action, it will cause a ripple effect.

We all have to do the inner work on our own before we can actually shine.

Everything that I talk about in this video is 100% true. Do I wish I would have taken imperfect action at the time and just published the dang thing? Possibly, but something inside me wasn’t just ready for the bold step of taking imperfect action.

But today was the day the Lord said it’s time Michele for you to take imperfect action every single day. It’s not about you.

Little Side Quote

“You may delay, but time will not.”

– Benjamin Franklin

Here is an outline of what I talked about

What Shifted For Me

  • Denial
  • No Such Thing as Perfect
  • Choosing to take courageous action

Journaling

  • But Are You Committed
  • Any excuse will do
  • What if I do nothing
  • What if I make the courage decide to just do it.

Create a hit list of imperfect action that you can take

This is mine letting go of the need to have beautiful videos.

  • 2 choices do nothing
  • Be brave and do the video FROM who I am right now in my business journey.
  • That’s all I’m available for and I have to believe that it is enough.

Quick Recap

  • Just take the dang imperfect action
  • Be brave and courageous every day in your business journey
  • Shh, the mean girl
  • It’s not about mean
  • Cause a ripple effect with your impact
  • Journal, journal, journal
