Girl, you need to stop and give yourself a pat on the back. If I could have written my younger self a letter with this advice, It would’ve made the list of advice. How about you?
As women, we can be so hard on ourselves. Saying things to ourselves that we would never dream of saying to anyone else. Justifying it as I’m just being honest with myself.
Why do we feel the need to tear ourselves down when we should instead give ourselves a pat on the back for all the accomplishments and obstacles we overcome.
All the juggling and balancing we do in life. It is truly amazing. But, instead of giving ourselves the sweet reward of self-praise, love, and admiration for a job well done.
We look at all the things that we judged to be below par. Creating a long list of how we could have done it better.
Instead of sayin’ “Heck ya girl, you nailed that,” along with a well-deserved pat on the back.
Stop being so hard on yourself.
Why look outside for others to empower us? Do it your dang self!
Don’t get me wrong, I, too, am a work in progress when it comes to self-praise; I accept that. This acceptance allows me grace when I notice these negative thoughts and feelings.
Flipping the script and giving myself a pat on the back for a job well done is self-empowerment.
It’s not always easy.
It’s not always easy to give the well-deserved pat on the back to ourselves. Depending on how you have raised this behavior may have been frowned upon. But why? Why is it better to accept praise from others for our accomplishments but not give ourselves thanks and self-praise? I’m going to just say that is a bunch of crap.
Be proud of yourself; give that pat on the back. Be the empowered business owner.
Celebrate
Case in point, one of my clients has so many unpublished blog posts about her simple, clean living homestead.
She hasn’t hit the publish button on any of them. We had the conversation that her own thoughts are keeping herself a well-kept secret.
Why?
Out of fear.
What did I do?
I challenged her to actually do one small thing before our next meeting. Put out just one blog post allowing someone the possibility to benefit from it.
When she takes action, she must give herself a pat on the back, the self-praise for having the courage to do it.
It can be scary, but lots of things in life can be difficult.
Stories
We tend to make up all these stories in our minds of what is going to happen.
The only thing these stories do is keep us stuck. We will never really know until we do the hard thing. Once it’s done, give yourself that well-deserved pat on the back.

Private Coaching
Why do I believe in the power of private coaching?
Because it is truly life-changing. When your coach asks you that mind-blowing question that suddenly allows you to see what you've been missing all along that was literally right in front of your face.
You just need someone with a different perspective to help you see it.
Are you ready to experience life from a different perspective?
