What’s Holding You Back?

What’s Holding You Back?

What's holding you back from your success?Do you question what is holding you back from success? It's funny how it can be difficult to see the areas where your hold yourself back. As a blogger do you know what's holding you back from success?

I can almost hear you thinking it's all the tasks that I'm not proficient at getting done. You know the research on SEO, and how to drive traffic to my website. You feel as if these tasks are causing you to spin your wheels and waste your valuable time.

When you start down the path of creating a blog, it was with the dream of finding a way to make money online.

Those tasks aren't what's holding you back.

Now, this is important it's fear holding you back from creating a profitable blog. A profitable online business.

It is fear causing you to spin your wheels and waste your valuable time.

You guessed it, fear is what's holding you back from making money with your blog.

It is keeping you stuck. Above all, it is keeping you from creating that course or digital product you've mapped out in your journal.

The voice of fear.

How do you keep heading in the right direction when that little voice of fear in your head is distracting you?

Here's how it works, it will get all up in your head. Causing you to think about all the things you don't want for your blogging success.

I know from first-hand experience when you're focused on what you don't want, you'll encounter many little side paths that cause your journey to take longer. You and I both know this only causes you to feel discouraged in your progress.

Let's face it, these side paths are not very smooth and cause you to struggle with staying focused on what you set out to achieve with your blog.

After all, struggle caused by fear lead to feeling as if you're spending more time in reverse. Also to what you don't want instead of what you do want.

Disguise itself as busy.

Meanwhile, fear will disguise itself as busy.

For this reason, you'll spend countless hours researching and comparing yourself to other bloggers in your space.

You know I'm right, heck I still will catch myself doing this. However, I know it is my fear that causes it.

Rather than working on your business, you'll be in the back office trying to manage every aspect of the business.

But, what if you take a step back and ask yourself if controlling all aspects of the business is moving you down the path to success?

Is fear disguising itself as busy or the need for perfection?

Would your time be better spent working on your first course or the digital product that you can sell to your list?

So, what is my point? Your comparison and fear will cause you to forget how valuable your knowledge and time actually are. This was put on your heart for a reason.

If you still feel you struggle with time management.

Here are a few things that I've implemented to manage my time efficiently.

Schedule It All

Either at the beginning of the week, the night before, or first thing in the morning. Schedule your day. Plan out the tasks that must be done.

And remember to Eat Your Frog First Thing In the Morning. Read More Here.

Plan Your Social Media

Batch schedule your social media so you do not go down the social media rabbit hole during your day. I spend an hour on Sunday's planning for the week.

Write Down Your Goal

Keep your goal front and center. Write it down daily. Everyday schedule one or two tasks that will move that goal forward.

Take Time for Self-Care

Take time for yourself. Make sure that you're scheduling time for self-care. This could be meditation, yoga, journaling, exercise or reading a book. What does self-care look like to you?

Would you like a daily calendar printable?

Hey! Thought I would share this daily calendar printable that I created! Page one is the calendar with the time breakout for the day that you'll want to schedule. Hello, accomplishment! It also has a little spot to write your gratitude, goals and daily affirmation to keep it front and center!

Planning

Page two is blank with grid dots for whatever your little heart desires! Here are a few ideas for page two.

Remind Me Please!

Those important birthdays or appointments that you must remember.

Project?

What key projects are you going to focus on in today? Take some time to plan out reasonable goals that are achievable in one day. Maybe you need space to brainstorm an idea.

Must Do

What task must you do no matter? Plan when you're going to complete those tasks. Get them scheduled and completed. If you're like me a long task list is overwhelming. Keep it simple! The longer I run a business the more I understand that keeping things simple is the best. Things pop up during the day that will take your time. It's best to keep those must-do tasks ones that are revenue generating.

Gratitude

What are you thankful for today? Somedays I'm thankful for coffee and fake eyelashes. Just sayin' I appreciate all that brings me joy.

Affirmation

Do you write down a daily affirmation? Louise Hay and her affirmations help me to align to the good in my life and to remember that things are fine and I'm right where I need to be.

Goals

What is your goal for the day? Is a business goal, a personal goal? Write it down to remind yourself what you're working towards.

My Personal Best Productivity Practices

My Personal Best Productivity Practices

My Personal Best Productivity Practices

When you work as a virtual assistant, it is imperative that your day is productive. When I am balancing my business and the work for other companies, it crucial that I stay on my game regarding my productivity.I won't lie I'm a sucker when it comes to articles on productivity. I'm sucked in like a vacuum. I have a pretty solid productivity practice in place. However, productivity is a skill that I am working on fine tuning all the time.

When you work as a virtual assistant, it is imperative that your day is productive. When I am balancing my business and the work for other companies, it crucial that I stay on my game regarding my productivity.

Personal Best

Here are a few of my personal best productivity practices that I use on the daily. How many of these do you use?

Check email only 3 times daily

I only check my email three times a day. Morning, Afternoon and end of the day when I am planning for the next day. To avoid distracting incoming notification, I close my email. Trust me I struggle with it, but I do it anyway. I've previously talked about inbox zero, each time my inbox is zero when I sign out.

Work on one task at a time

I stay focused on only one task. It's vital to me that my clients get every cent's worth. I do not bounce back and forth. I focus on one project at a time.

Get a timer

I set a timer. Some days I am laser focused, and I can put my head down for 50 minutes at a time with only a 5-minute break. But hey, I am a mother of three extremely active children. Depending on how much we had to go to the evening before I may not have the same focus. You know what that's okay. On those days I keep my sprints shorter and do not work as long. They may only be 25 minutes with 5 minutes off.

Schedule it

I schedule everything in my day and leave open time for the unexpected. Because I know that I will have the unexpected come up, that is a given. When I am lucky, and nothing comes up, bet you're not surprised that I can find something to fill that time.

What are your personal best productivity practices? Tell me about them in the comment section below.

Psst… I use a system of Google calendar, teamwork and my bullet journal on the daily. For fun, I created this example bullet journal page.
